Professional Recital Emmanuel Sowicz

We are delighted to have the wonderful Emmanuel Sowicz performing at our club.

Emmanuel Sowicz is a prize-winning classical guitarist who combines his passion for the guitar’s traditional repertoire with a keen interest in new music and the art of transcription.

His intended programme for the evening is likely to feature works of Bach, Barrios, Sor, Berkeley, Poulenc, Roussel, Sanchez and Lauro.

Born in London to British and Chilean parents, Emmanuel graduated from the University of Chile under Ernesto Quezada before receiving a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Michael Lewin, Stephen Goss, Fabio Zanon, Elizabeth Kenny, and David Russell. He completed his Master of Arts and Advanced Diploma with Distinction, receiving the DipRAM award for an outstanding final recital and the Dove Prize for his outstanding studentship. His studies were generously supported by the Benjamin Dale Award, Alec Templeton Scholarship, Leverhulme Trust Postgraduate Scholarship, and the SCD Scholarship for Academic Excellence from the Chilean Copyright Society. He also pursued postgraduate studies with Marco Tamayo at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg and is currently working towards a doctoral degree at the University of Oxford.

In 2025, Emmanuel Sowicz was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (ARAM) in recognition of his distinction in the music profession and significant contributions to his field. He is a Savarez artist and performs on a 2023 Carsten Kobs guitar.
