Chris Sweatman
Chris has been teaching for many years and many of his pupils take part in music festivals and achieve top prizes including the West Sussex Guitar Festival. He also prepares pupils for examinations and again gets excellent results. Chris says 'One of the proudest moments this year was a pupil who worked really hard on his graded exam and gained a grade 7 distinction and then went on to gain a place at the National Youth Guitar Ensemble'.
Chris started the foundations for his musical career at the University of Chichester and gained a BA (hons) degree and the following year achieved his MA in music performance. At this time he had lessons with Sasha Levtov and then Royal Colege of Music Professor Gary Ryan.
Chris went on to perform at many venues in West Sussex and beyond including Chichester Cathedral after winning the prestigious Robert Headley Music Prize whilst at University (the first time a guitarist had won the prize).
Over the years Chris has taken part in many masterclasses and encourages his pupils to do the same. He always likes to make his lessons fun and teaches all ages and abilities.
Chris works at 4 schools in the West Sussex/kent area and currently lives in Burgess Hill. He has Enhanced DBS.
