Professional Recital - Zoe Barnett
As part of the Festival of Chichester 2023 ,West Sussex Guitar Club would like to invite all music enthusiasts to our forthcoming recital by Zoe Barnett
Saturday 8th July 2023, 7.30pm
at the Regis School of Music, 46 Sudley Road , Bognor Regis, PO21 1E
Zoe is from Chichester and made her first performance at the Regis School of Music when only three years old. She won a scholarship to the Royal College of Music to study under Gary Ryan and Chris Stell, and was winner of the Sussex Young Musician Competition in 2022. She performed the new International Guitar Foundation commission 'The Mist' by Zenyan Li at the Kings place in 2022.
As winner of the Portsmouth Music Festival Concerto prize in 2018 she performed Fantasia para un gentilhombre by Rodrigo in Portsmouth Cathedral with the Solent Symphony Orchestra. Full of heady sounds and a carnival flavour, her performance was the highlight of the evening and the final cadenza demonstrated why Zoe was a worthy winner of this award.
Zoe has collaborated with the music channel 'Forte Sessions', known for taking Classical music to new environments such as Denmark Hill, once known as Tin Pan Alley.
West Sussex Guitar Club is delighted that she is to return to the stage where her career started, to perform a repertoire that will include three Persian Folk Songs by the Iranian guitarist/composer Lily Afshar, Brouwer's sonata no.3 and the Suite Compostelana by Mompou.
